The NYC grocery field guide
Cups, tubs or multipacks.
Make every ounce count.
Small yogurt cups can be convenient. A large tub can fit a different routine. To compare NYC yogurt offers, decide which kind you want and how much your household will use.

Build your shopping list on the map, then compare.
Match the yogurt
to your mornings.
- At home
- Plain yogurt in a tub
- To carry
- Individual cups in acceptable flavors
- Product
- Keep your chosen style and label requirements fixed
- Amount
- Record the total weight you plan to buy
Keep these as separate alternatives.A lower tub price is only relevant if portioning it yourself works for you.
Compare the total weight, then the convenience you need.
Choose the style before choosing the pack.
Write down whether you want regular, Greek-style, drinkable or another specific yogurt. Keep plain and flavored separate unless you will happily use either. If a particular ingredient or label matters to your household, check the actual product before calling it a match.
A split container with toppings also needs its own decision. You may want the complete snack, or you may want only yogurt for cooking. Compare the product you intend to use rather than treating every refrigerated cup as an equivalent breakfast.
Add the cups before dividing the price.
For a multipack, record the number of cups and the weight of each. Work out the combined weight before comparing it with a tub or another pack. A price per cup is useful only after you confirm that the cups contain the same amount.
| Package | Record | Keep separate when needed |
|---|---|---|
| Individual cup | Net weight and flavor | Different cup sizes |
| Multipack | Cup count and combined weight | Unwanted flavors in an assortment |
| Large tub | Net weight and yogurt style | Products you would not portion yourself |
| Drinkable yogurt | Labeled amount and product name | Spoonable yogurt comparisons |
Use one consistent weight unit for spoonable yogurt. Do not mix fluid ounces with weight ounces when comparing a drinkable product and a tub. If the labels do not give a common basis, leave the comparison unresolved.
Separate the serving label from your shopping amount.
The FDA's serving-size explanation says a package can contain several servings. Use the net package amount for a unit-price comparison, then plan around the amount your household actually uses.
Look through the entire assortment before buying a multipack. If some flavors will sit untouched, comparing only the total number of cups misses an important part of your purchase decision.
Check the coupon against every qualifying cup.
Confirm the brand, size and varieties covered by an offer. A required purchase can apply across selected products rather than every yogurt on the shelf. Include the complete qualifying purchase in your checkout total.

No usable advertised price means the local price is unknown. It does not establish stock or justify a store ranking. Compare the rest of your list before adding a separate yogurt stop.
